GEN-ID 🇮🇩 | Nusa Dua, Bali - Preparations for the 144th Inter Parliamentary Union Assembly at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC) from 20 to 24 March 2022 are increasing as delegates from various countries arrive in Bali on Thursday (17/3/2022).

The opening remarks from the Chairwoman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani in front of the delegates, delivered on Friday (18/3/2022) marked the start of a series of agenda which carried the theme of "Getting to Zero: Mobilizing Parliaments to Act on Climate Change".

The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR-RI) is the host of the IPU important event.

“Mrs. Puan was directly involved in ensuring that the event is running smoothly, such as the venue, security, CHSE protocol, and many others. We really appreciate the direction given by Mrs. Puan, which is important for the continuity of this event," said Saraswati Subadia, Director of Sales and Marketing of The Westin Resort.

CHSE is the implementation of health protocols, namely Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environmental Sustainability.

One interesting thing to observe during the preparation of the 144th IPU General Assembly series whose agenda will start on Friday (18/3/2022), is the enthusiasm of business owners and MICE industry workers.

“I personally, and maybe my friends here are very happy with this event. We, in the tourism industry in Bali, are arguably the group most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic situation. So we are very enthusiastic about welcoming the delegates who will take part in the 144th IPU General Assembly,” said Agung Yatmika, one of the Westin Ambassadors at The Westin Resort.

"We try to provide the best service for these IPU delegates because this is not only about the impression they get from the hotel where I work, or just Bali, but also of Indonesia," said Agung.

He said that the 144th IPU General Assembly was the first major event to be held at BICC after the COVID-19 pandemic. Changes in the rhythm of work began to be felt by the employees at the hotel.

"Hopefully, this event can be a momentum for the return of tourism to Bali," he said.

Elliya Yunita, owner of Options Rental, a company engaged in computer and printer rental for conference needs, hopes that the 144th IPU General Assembly will be an important starting line for the revival of tourism and MICE industry in Bali.
